Dr. Michael Hendry
Dr. Michael Hendry holds the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Industrial Research Chair in Railway Engineering, is a Principal Investigator (PI) for the Railway Ground Hazard Research Program (RGHRP) (est. 2003, position since 2014), and is an Associate Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. Dr. Hendry leads research in rail transportation focusing on infrastructure assessment, cold climate performance, landslides, rock falls, soft subgrades and impacts of extreme weather events. Dr. Hendry research with railways has led to an award of the John Mitchell Memorial Medal from the U.K. Institution of Civil Engineers, and the University of Alberta receiving recognition as a World Centers of Excellence in Landslide Research from the International Programme on Landslides (UNESCO and UNISDR). Dr. Hendry taught EngG 130 for 7 years.
